Jiangxi teacher stay with her 270 international students against coronavirus
“我留下來是對270多名留學生負責”
NANCHANG, Feb. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Gong Mengchen, a teacher of the School of International Education in Yichun University, chose to stay with her 270 international students instead of celebrating the Spring Festival at home after the outbreak of novel coronavirus epidemics.
As a teacher as well as a party member of CPC, Mrs. Gong takes the initiative to take responsibility for prevention and control of the epidemics among her international students.
With rich student management experience, Mrs. Gong realized that it is necessary to grasp the trends of every international students as soon as possible. For this purpose, she led to build a special work group with several head teachers and student leaders, in which a daily reporting system is established.
Under the guidance of the work group, it is required to accurately count the current number of students in the school, as well as the current number of students abroad. For the students who are abroad, head teachers must contact with them, explaining current situation and giving them comfort in time. For those who are stay at school, the personnel will dissuade them from going outside, and makes statistics on the number of returning students every day.
At the same time, Mrs. Gong noticed the growing tension among the overseas students. To relieve them from such intension caused by language barriers, different national conditions and mass vague news on the internet, Gong tried her best to deliver useful information for the students. For instance, she translates live updates of the coronavirus infection, latest medical progress made by Chinese scientists and efficient measures Chinese government taking to fight against the virus.
Besides, Mrs. Gong actively connects with the logistics department of school to ensure the normal supply of water, electricity, food and accommodation for overseas students amid the epidemics. She timely gets in touch with the school hospital to closely observe overseas students returning from other places, and assists the school in purchasing daily supplies and food for the students, so as to solve their difficulties as many as possible.
With her considerate care and treatment for the students, Gong was reputed as “Chinese mother” by the international students. “ At this point, this is my duty to serve for students as a teacher and a party member of CPC. Let’s stay together to fight against the coronavirus.!” Gong said.
“我們怕她，但我們更愛她。”這是宜春學院國際教育學院眾多留學生對龔夢晨老師的印象。
由於嚴格要求、認真負責的工作態度和平易近人、樂觀開朗的性格，龔夢晨在留學生中獲得一個親切的稱號“izzie媽媽”。
自湖北省武漢市等多個地區發生新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎疫情以來，龔夢晨放心不下學校270多名在校留學生，她主動放棄與家人返鄉過年的計劃，擔當起春節值班的重任。
“大家小家都是家，掌心掌背都是肉，這時候我留下來是對兩百多個孩子負責。我是一名老師，我更是一名黨員，這是我應盡的責任。”龔夢晨說。
近段時間，疫情波及面廣。憑著多年的學生管理經驗，她意識到要儘快掌握留學生的動向，哪些在學校，哪些回國，哪些在外地，“每一個都不能漏掉”。她牽頭成立了由班主任和學生幹部組成的工作小組，建立每日彙報制度，要求精確統計當前在校人數，以及當前在外人數，並要求班主任與每一個在外地的留學生取得聯繫，做好安撫和解釋工作。勸阻在校留學生不再外出，並對每日返校人數做好統計。同時要求工作小組將官方公佈的疫情通報、防控知識及時傳達給每一位留學生，提高留學生對疫情的認識，同時增強留學生自我防護能力。
與此同時，她也注意到了在留學生群體中慢慢滋生的緊張情緒。
由於語言差異，國情差異，留學生對於網絡上傳播的信息真假難辨。克服恐慌最有力的武器就是信心。如何將中國抵抗疫情的有力措施，中國人民團結一心抗擊疫情的堅定行動以及每天科研人員取得的新進展等正面信息傳遞給留學生，穩定留學生情緒，建立留學生對中國的信心，這是龔夢晨最花心思的事情。
每天日常工作後，她都會摘選主流媒體的官方報道，逐條翻譯，以短信的形式向留學生群體宣傳中國抗擊新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎疫情的舉措。
在消除恐慌、建立信心的同時，龔夢晨也時刻關注留學生生活上的需求。她積極與學校後勤對接，保障留學生在校期間水電食宿的正常供應；及時與校醫院取得聯繫，對從外地返校的留學生進行密切觀察，同時協助院裡為留學生採購日常用品和食物，解決他們生活上的困難。
“現在你不僅僅是我們的izzie媽媽，還是我們的護士姐姐、水電阿姨、廚師奶奶和交通小秘書。”留學生開玩笑地對她說。
