行行重行行，

與君生別離。

相去萬餘里，

各在天一涯。

道路阻且長，

會面安可知？

胡馬依北風，

越鳥巢南枝。

相去日已遠，

衣帶日已緩。

浮雲蔽白日，

遊子不顧返。

思君令人老，

歲月忽已晚。

棄捐勿複道，

努力加餐飯。

本詩出自《古詩十九首》，用詞質樸，層次清晰，重疊反覆，分別運用直言、隱喻比興，來抒發離別後女子相思情苦之意。

This poem, from Nineteen Poems, expresses a woman’s lovesickness after parting with the loved one through direct speaking and metaphor. It is told in plain language and with a clear structure with the technique of repetition.

I’m left here, you are yon.

Apart ten thousand li,

Divided by the sea.

It’s a long and hard way;

Can we rejoin some day?

Hun horses love north soughs;

Yue birds nest on south boughs.

You go farther away;

My belt loosens each day.

The clouds made the sun black;

You swore ne’er to come back.

Missing you makes me old;

Now comes the winter cold.

No care, no more of it;

Do eat well and keep fit.
