艾爾頓·赫拉克勒斯·約翰（SirEltonHerculesJohn），原名雷金納德·肯尼思·德懷特（ReginaldKennethDwight），1947年3月25日出生於英國倫敦，英國歌手、曲作者、鋼琴演奏者、演員、慈善家。

　　1964年，艾爾頓·約翰在一個週末酒吧開始了音樂生涯。1969年，推出首張個人專輯《EmptySky》。1970年代，其連續推出的七張專輯都登上了美國排行榜的冠軍，其中六張入選《滾石》雜誌評出的“史上最偉大的500張專輯”。1987年，憑藉歌曲《That'sWhatFriendAreFor》獲得第29屆格萊美獎“最佳流行樂隊/組合”獎[3]。1994年，為動畫電影《獅子王》獻唱主題曲《CanYouFeelTheLoveTonight》，獲得第67屆奧斯卡金像獎“最佳原創歌曲”獎。同年，入選搖滾名人堂。1995年，獲得大英帝國司令勳章（CBE）。1997年，為紀念戴安娜王妃而發行歌曲《CandleintheWind1997》，其銷量突破3300萬，是史上最賣座的單曲[7]。1998年，被英國女王伊麗莎白二世封為帝國二等勳爵。1999年，獲得格萊美傳奇獎。2004年，獲得肯尼迪中心榮譽獎[9]。2013年，獲得全英音樂獎“英國偶像”獎。2020年，憑藉為電影《火箭人》獻唱的主題曲《(I'mGonna)LoveMeAgain》，獲得第92屆奧斯卡金像獎最佳原創歌曲。

​　　艾爾頓·約翰熱衷於公益事業，於1992年成立“艾爾頓·約翰艾滋病基金會”。2016年，英媒公佈的“英國名人慈善榜”中，艾爾頓·約翰以2700萬英鎊的捐籌款名列榜首。
