繼上一篇日記，Greg講述了玩Net Kritterz的執迷上癮，並明確表示今年聖誕禮物想要Kritterz Kash給他的電子寵物Chihuahua增添裝備，本打算這個週末繼續在玩Net Kritterz中度過，結果很快招致他老媽的不滿。
我們先來根據下面的原文聽一下音頻，後面有Lora老師的內容知識點梳理與講解哦~
周天日記開篇就說了：
... Mom said the amount of time I’m spending playing that game is “unhealthy”and that I had to interact with a “real live person”.
interact表示相互交流;相互溝通 ，這裡面“inter-”表示“在...之間”“相互”，“act”表示做事，行動，那麼相互行動，就是互動，交流。
同樣view有看之意，interview，相互看一看，就是面試，採訪。
national表示國家的，international，國與國之間的，就是國際的。
Greg老媽表示Greg用了太多時間玩這個遊戲，這樣不健康。Greg需要和一個大活人（real live person ）互動交流。Greg於是把死黨Rowley請到家裡。
Greg 和Rowley是如何互動交流的呢？
從插圖也可以看出：
Greg is siting in front of the TV, playing video games while Rowley is just sitting on the sofa watching.
我個人不愛打遊戲，我覺得看別人打遊戲應該也是挺無趣的事，但用Greg的話說：
...he dosn’t MIND watching me pay video games
Rowley絲毫不介意這事。
Greg和Rowley這樣相處挺融洽的，但一旁Greg的媽媽又下達指令了，關掉電視，他們需要interact face to face，然後倆人被送到了basement（地下室）。
這裡面還有一個使用interact的句子：
Plus, the reason our ancestors invented technology in the first place was so they didn’t HAVT to interact wih one anthor.
看原著就是有這麼一個優點，有些關鍵詞在文本中反覆出現，看多了，你也就知道用法了。
在地下室，這對死黨是如何interact “face to face”，我把插圖拼在一起做了個流程圖，試著回想複述一下。答案在文末。
1. Greg planned to stay up late watching movies，but Rowley brought _______.
2. They played “Wacky Sentences”. Rowley said “_______”instead of laughing, which drove Greg crazy. Then, they started arguing about the speling of “__________”.
3. Rowley suggested playing________. But it’s really easy for Greg to find Rowley.
4. Greg dared Rowley to write________ on the tree fort in the woods. Greg actually played a trick on Rowley.
Rowley蠢萌的性格在和Greg的玩耍中體現的淋漓盡致。小夥伴讓他帶電影碟片，他就只拿了“home movies”，誰會對別人家的home movis感興趣呢。至於什麼是home movies看插圖（圖1）就知道了。
他執拗的認為volleyball的拼寫是bolleyball，拿起詞典就從b開頭的單詞一個一個讀起來，沒查到呢，就斷定Greg的字典outdated。
和Greg玩起捉迷藏，更是有趣，他以為當他看不到你的時候，你也看不到他，於是就有插圖（圖3）上搞笑的一幕。和這個IQ有點不太夠用的小夥伴在一起，Greg自然玩的很無趣。最後他決定：
I decided we just needed a break from each other, so I came up with an idea.
Greg就是覺得倆人最好分開一下，最後憋出了個壞主意。這個壞注意就是：
Each of us had to walk into the woods and write our name on the tree fort we built last summer. And whoever chickened out was wrong about volleyball and had to call the other guy “sir”for the rest of his life.
然而去年夏天，Greg和Rowley建造那個樹屋的時候，Greg就已寫下了自己的名字。Greg在樹林裡繞了個圈回到屋子吃冰淇淋去了，留下Rowley站在寒風中哆嗦著不敢走進樹林裡。
這裡面有個短語chicken out。Collins字典裡的解釋如下：
If someone chickens out of something they were intending to do, they decide not to do it because they are afraid.
chicken”本身就可用來表示“膽小的”。“chicken out”的意思是：原來計劃好做一件事，但是到最後一刻卻害怕了，感到完成不了，於是便中途停止或放棄，也可以說是臨陣退縮。這種事情幾乎每個人都在不同情況下經歷過…
Today I was sure I could work up my courage and dive off the ten meter board at the pool. I walked right out to the edge, but then I chickened out—it looked like a long way down to the water!
我原來以為今天我肯定會鼓足了勇氣從游泳池那個十米高的跳臺上跳下去。可是，當我走到跳臺邊緣的時候卻退縮。從跳臺到水面的距離看起來好遠啊！
可憐的Rowley不僅以後要尊稱Greg“sir”，肯定也感冒生病了，文中沒交代，但插圖（圖7）可以看出。最後Greg悠閒的躺在床上看書，享受著“argument free”的時光。
也難怪Rowley和Greg分分合合了，Greg被自己哥哥耍，被弟弟告黑狀，但在死黨Rowley面前總使壞，而Rowley在Greg的壞點子陪襯下，憨得可愛。
