authority基本意思是“權威，權力”，這裡指“依據，來源”，have it on good authority (that) 是固定搭配指“根據可靠消息”
If you say you have it on good authority that something is true, you mean that you believe it is true because you trust the person who told you about it.

3. He's onto us!
他發現我們了
onto本來是方位的單詞”在...之上，向…之上“，這裡跟be搭配活用成動詞，be onto sb字面意思位於某人之上，就是能夠看到某人，所以引申為“發現（某人做壞事）；對…覺察；對…知悉”
If someone is onto you, they have discovered that you are doing something illegal or wrong.
He did not want Pollard to become suspicious that he was now onto him.
