開齋節是伊斯蘭三大宗教節日之一，是全球穆斯林的重大節日。

齋月結束的那一天，則是伊斯蘭教最重要的三大節日之一，開齋節（Eid al-Fitr）。
每一年的開齋節日期取決於月相週期，穆斯林遵循見月封齋，見月開齋，齋月的最後一天看新月，見月次日開齋，即為開齋節，如未見新月，則繼續封齋，節期延後，一般不超過3天。
今年開齋節預計會落在6月15日。但由於各國地理位置不同，時間可能會略有差異。（比如巴基斯坦媒體報道說，阿聯酋那邊預測會在6月14日晚上看到新月，則6月15日為開齋節，但巴基斯坦這邊在14日晚看到新月的可能性很小很小，他們預計應該在6月16日開齋，但也有可能跟其他國家保持一致放在6月15日。）
具體各國的放假時間表如下圖所示：
假日活動
開齋節這天，穆斯林一般很早起床，早祈禱後就可以吃一些東西，象徵齋月結束。然後到清真寺去聆聽教長吟誦古蘭經，再集體朝著麥加方向禮拜。這一天穆斯林還會拜訪親友，互相擁抱問候、聚餐，恢復朋友和親友之間的聯繫。各地還會舉辦一些熱鬧的慶典活動等。
