God fell across（遇到） a puzzle when he created the world. Thinking over and over, he decided to listen to the archangels（大天使）' views.

上帝在创造世界的时候，碰上一道难题。他想来想去，还是决定听听大天使们的看法。

After the summoned（召集） archangels arrived, God asked them, “Tell me, where should I put the secret of life?”

他召集大天使前来，问道：“你们说我应该把生命的秘密放在哪儿好啊？”

“Bury it in the ground,” an archangel replied. “Put it at the bottom of sea,” another said. “Hide it on the high mountain,” the third suggested.

“埋在地里。”一个大天使说。 “放入海底。”另一个说。 “藏在高山上。”第三个说。

God shook his head and said, “If I do as you suggest, there will be a small group of people who can find it. But my original purpose is to let everyone find the secret of life!”

上帝摇摇头，说：“要是按你们说的做，能够找得到的只会是一小部分人。可我的初衷是想让每个人都找到生命的秘密啊！”

After a long silence, an archangel suddenly said, “I know. Put it into everyone's heart. As long as he's willing to seek for it, anyone can find it.”

沉默良久，一个大天使突然说：“有了，把它放进人心里吧。只要肯找，每个人都找得到。”

“Yes!” God said in delight, “Put it in everyone's heart.” Then the secret of life lies in everyone's heart.

“对啊！”上帝喜从中来，“那就放进每个人的心里。” 于是，生命的秘密自在人心。

大天使(Archangel)一词源于希腊文，指“主要的信使”，常见于基督教、伊斯兰教、犹太教等宗教传统之中。基督教中大天使的出场可以追溯到《圣经·启示录》中记载着的“神的御座前有七名天使侍立”。关于大天使的数量和姓名，各个宗教及其不同派系有着较大的差别，但是一般都认为大天使除了赐福以外，还担负着监督凡间或是引领善良人的灵魂进入天堂等责任。
