木造像形成一定风格体系且现今能看到的最早在宋代,宋代官方木造像多有记载入册,且保存下来的屈指可数。宋代受佛教世俗化的影响,富于现实意味和个性特点,尤其在脸相的塑造。菩萨面形圆润,宽额丰颐,眼泡鼓起,从额头到鼻梁一般凹陷下去,呈一条明显的圆弧线,与当时现实中人物面相十分接近。
