是不是觉得这就应该是“敲门”的意思！
这个表达没毛病呀！
事实上，knock the door真不是敲门哦！
我们今天就来学习一下有关door的英语表达吧！
knock the door
如果和外国人说knock the door，人家怕是误以为你要抢劫了。knock the door其实是破门而入的意思。
而敲门的正确表达其实是在knock the door这个短语里加个介词，就是knock>，意思是敲门、敲门声。
例：
The children will knock> , and shout "trick or treat" .
孩子们会敲门，吆喝着“不招待就使坏”。
answer the door
answer the door和回没什么关系哦！实际意思是应声开门、听到铃声去开门、开门迎客。
I wish someone would answer the door. I can't stand to hear the knocking.
但愿有人会去开门。我受不了敲门声。
open the door
open the door大家都知道是开门的意思，加上介词to/for，意思也会发生改变哦！
open the door to sth可以解释为向...开门、打开...的门，还可以表示为...创造机会。
而加上for，意思比较类似。open the door for sb/sth意思是为...开门、提供机会/方便、创作可能。
例：
Research>open the door to the new medical treatments.
对遗传基因的研究将会为全新的医疗方法创作机会。
If the record is successful, it could open doors for my career.
如果这个记录成功了，将会为我的事业提供机会。
show (someone) the door
show (someone) the door该怎么理解呢？大家联想一下，把门指给某人看，就是命令某人离开。所以show the door就解释为让离开、叫某人走开、逐客。
show the door经常用在职场上，就是被解雇的意思。
例：
I was shown the door when I asked for a raise.
当我要求加薪时被解雇了。
lay sth at>
这可不是把东西留在别人家门口哦！实际上lay sth at> lay (the blame or responsibility)>，意思是把...归罪于...、让...负责。
例：
You shouldn't lay the blame for the fiasco at his door.
你不应该把这次惨败怪在他头上。
at death's door
at death's door直译就是在死神门口，也就是生命垂危、快死了的意思。可以搭配lie或是be，lie/be at death's door。
例：
His skin was so pale, he looked like he was at death's door.
他的皮肤如此苍白，看上去快死了。
darken>
darken是变黑、变暗的意思，但darken>不受主人欢迎的那种拜访，可以解释为闯入。可以用在“我不会再来”或“不准你再来”类似的语境中。
例：
Now that I have left that home, I'll never darken the door again.
我既然已经离开了那个家，就不会再回去。
Don't darken my door again.
下次不准再来我家。
