宋代執壺，有的執壺，一看就不是瓷器造型，它是金屬造型，由於景德鎮優良的瓷土，使它有條件做成，有的瓷土不行，比如磁州窯的瓷土，非常厚、非常粗糙，就做不成。
這種執壺在宋代時期，一般有兩個用途，第一是酒壺，宋代當時的酒都是釀造酒，如現在家中都可以做成做的米酒、黃酒，都屬於釀造酒。我們喝的烈性酒叫蒸餾酒，蒸餾酒是元代以後才有的，到了明代才比較多。
這種壺現在我們叫“執壺”，有一個把執著嗎，就叫“執壺”，它在宋代也叫“柱子”，柱子就是用來做茶道的，宋代飲茶叫它是點茶，宋代的飲茶習慣跟唐代不一樣是點茶，就要求壺嘴做的比較細，要求出的水速度。
