2020年的第一個月，武漢的新冠病毒、美國的流感病毒、尼日利亞的拉沙熱、澳大利亞的山火、東非的蝗蟲、加拿大的暴雪以及各種地震......讓我們不禁發問地球這是怎麼了？人類為啥遭受這麼嚴重的苦難？細細想來，人類這四五萬年的生活史不過是在為生存而鬥爭，我們脫離不了地球這個生物圈，只是地球生態系統的成員之一，我們並不比身處其中的任何一個物種高貴、強大，並不比一個微生物強大，並不比一個蚯蚓高貴，一直和大自然的其他生命一樣，為了生存而鬥爭著。然而大部分時候人類總是在扮演一個入侵者的角色，毫無敬畏之心，為了人類自身的口舌之慾、自私虛榮而剝奪著其他生物的生存權利。我們終究自食了惡果，認識到到我們錯了，人類歸根結底要與自然和平共處，且飽含敬畏。
2月11日，第九十二屆奧斯卡頒獎典禮上，在《小丑》中扮演小丑的男主角傑昆·菲尼克斯 (Joaquin Phoenix) 榮獲奧斯卡最佳男主角獎。在上臺致辭時，他的發言令人深思，引起共鳴。他深刻地告訴大家我們脫離自然太久太遠了，我們是時候利用我們的智慧去保護所有的自然生靈，為人類的種族歧視、性別歧視、全球變暖、動物福利等爭議話題去尋求解決之道。

God, I'm full of so much gratitude right now. And I do not feel elevated above any of my fellow nominees or anyone in this room, because we share the same love, the love of film, and this form of expression has given me the most extraordinary life. I don't know what I'd be without it. But i think the greatest gift that it has given me and many of us in this room, is the opportunity to use our voice for the voiceless.
感謝上蒼，此刻我深感榮幸。我絕不認為我比與我一同提名的候選人或這個房間的任何一個人更優秀，因為我們一同分享著對電影的熱愛。這種表達形式讓我擁有了特別的人生。我不知道如果沒有電影我會怎麼樣，但我想電影賦予我和在座的各位最好的禮物是我們有機會替那些無法發聲的群體發聲。
I've been thinking a lot about some of the distressing issues that we are facing collectively. And I think at times we feel or are made to feel that we champion different causes.But for me, I see commonality. I think whether we 're talking about gender inequality or racism or queer right or indigenous rights or animal rights, we are talking about the fight against injustice, we 're talking about the fight against the belief that one nation, one people, one race, one gender or one species... has the right to dominate, control and use and exploit another with impunity.

I think that we've become very disconnected from the natural world. And many of us, what we're guilty of is an egocentric world view, the belief that we're the center of the universe. We go into the natural world and we plunder it for its resources. We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow, and when she givers birth, we steal her baby. Even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable. And then we take her milk that's intended for her calf, and we put it in our coffee and our cereal. And I think we fear the idea of personal change, because we think that we have to sacrifice something to give something up. But human beings, at our best, are so inventive and creative and ingenious. And I think that when we use love and compassion as our guiding principles, we can create, develop and implement systems of change that are beneficial to all sentient beings and to the environment.
我認為我們現在已經和自然世界脫節了，許多人都內疚於一種以自我為中心的世界觀，內疚於我們是世界的中心。我們侵佔大自然，肆意掠奪自然資源。我們自認為有權利人為讓母牛懷孕，然後當她生下小牛時又偷走她的孩子，對她痛苦的眼淚視而不見，然後我們拿走本該是她孩子的母乳放進我們的咖啡和麥片裡。我們害怕那些號召大家做出改變的提議，因為我們覺得會因此犧牲或放棄一些東西。但作為人類，我們最好的一面，我們明明是那麼富有創造力，我相信，當我們把愛和同理心作為我們的指引準則時，我們可以創造、發展並建立一個可以使所有生靈和環境都受益的新的體系。
I've been scoundrel in my life. I've been selfish. I've been cruel at times, hard to work with and ungrateful, but so many of you in this room have given me a second chance, and I think that's when we're at our best. when we support each other, not when we cancel each of our past mistakes. when we help each other to grow, when we educate each other, when we guide each other toward redemption. That is the best of humanity. I just... I want to ... When he was 17, my brother wrote this lyric. He said, "Run to the rescue with love, and peace will follow"
我曾經是一個混蛋，我曾經是個自私的人，我也曾是殘酷之人，難以合作，不知感恩，但是在場的太多人給了我第二次機會，我想這就是我們最好的一面。當我們彼此支持，而不是因為一些過去的錯誤而相互詆譭。當我們幫助彼此共同成長，當我們相互學習，指引彼此救贖自我，這才是人性最好的一面。我哥哥17歲時，他寫下這句詩，他寫道，“以愛奔向救贖，和平亦將相伴”。
