封城之後我們應該做些什麼?What Next After The Lockdown?

It is a month since Wuhan city was put in quarantine tocontain the corona virus. After the initial shock of not returning home upon graduating, I had a long chat with myself. If I was in Uganda, what would I be doing? Hustling for a job? Watching movies? Reading books? Maybe exercising?

自武漢市開始打響抗擊新型冠狀病毒的戰“疫”,已有一個月了。本該今年畢業的我因為武漢封城無法回家,我自己思考了良久,如果我在烏干達,我會做什麼?為了工作而奔波?看電影?讀書?也許是健身鍛鍊?

I would probably be working because a common proverb says ‘an idle mind is the devil’s workshop’. This means that an idle mind creates more problems but a productive mind creates more solutions.

我想我可能會找點事兒做,因為懶散的頭腦需要工作才能得到修復。

This quarantine will test your resistance and resilience to boredom. Do not let boredom, worries and negative thoughts overcome you. In my opinion, the human mind is the most beautiful asset or the most destructive tool anyone freely has. The right mindset will give you happiness and make your body endure anything painful. The wrong thoughts will destroy you.

這種封城中的隔離將考驗你對無聊生活的抵抗力和適應力。不要讓無聊、煩惱和消極的想法戰勝你。在我看來,人類的心靈是每個人都能自由擁有的最美麗的資產或是最具破壞性的工具。正確的心態會給你帶來快樂,讓你的身體承受任何痛苦,而錯誤的想法則會毀了你。

If you are artistic, draw, design, write, dance andsing, as long as your neighbours do not come knocking. If you are a sports person, do as many indoor exercises like mountain climbers, burpees, jumping jacks, squats and push-ups until they get tired of you.

如果你是藝術家,只要你的鄰居不來敲門打擾你,就去畫畫、設計、寫作、跳舞和唱歌吧。如果你是一個運動員,只要不感到疲倦就儘可能多的去做室內健身,做有氧運動、跳躍運動、深蹲和俯臥撐吧。

Don’t stay too long on social media reading this andthat fake news or scaremonger videos. There are plenty positive videos and articles that will uplift your soul. Finally, lean on friends and family that will lift you up and not weigh you down.

不要在社交媒體上停留太久,不同人發佈的虛假新聞或給人制造恐慌的視頻會讓你浪費更多的時間,增加更多的負面情緒。閱讀更多積極的視頻和文章,將提升你的靈魂。最後,你可以依靠朋友和家人,他們會讓你振作起來,而不是讓你沮喪。

German-Jew, Anna Frank, and American rappers Tupac Shakur and Lil’ Wayne created master pieces during their lockdowns. Tough times are like being swept by sudden rough ocean waves when you are enjoying a good swim. You must swim through them in order to survive. Swim hard, baby, swim!
