社交場合與人初次見面，難免會問到對方的職業。怎麼地道的描述自己的職業呢？我們首先來看一段對話。

A: Nice to meet you John. What line of work are you in?

B: I’m in marketing with IBM.

A: Oh, is that right? And what kind of marketing do you do?

B: I handle all our online and print advertising.

學習要點

1. Nice to meet you.

注意這個表達只適合初次見面的朋友。

之後見面，可以說Nice to see you again. 或者類似How are you? How are you doing? 這樣的普通打招呼的句型即可。

2. What line of work are you in?

你這哪個行業工作？

line of business 行業

I have been in this line of business for many years.

我經營這項業務已有多年。

in + 行業

例如：

I'm in sales.

I'm in education.

3. I'm in marketing with IBM.

我在IBM做市場。

在哪家公司工作，用with

例如 I work with IBM.

還可以用 work at 或者 work for 也可以

I work at IBM. 我在IBM工作

I work for IBM. 我為IBM 工作

4. What kind of marketing do you do?

你從事什麼樣的營銷工作？

do 可以作為描述工作的一個萬能動詞。

例如

I do a lot of graphic and web design work.

我做許多的平面和網頁設計工作。

5. I handle all our online and print advertising.

我處理我們所有的網上和印刷廣告（業務）。

handle 處理（業務）

處理do 和handle以外還有其他的一些關鍵動詞，例如：

I take care of all the scheduling.

我負責所有的日程安排。

take care of 應對

I follow up with customers to make sure they’re satisfied with our service.

我跟進客戶，確保他們對我們的服務滿意。

follow up with customers 跟進客戶

I supervise our branches in the Southeast Region. 我管理我們在東南地區的分公司。
