汉语中的“借”，使用较为灵活，既可以表示借给别人，也可以用于从别人那里借，具体的含义要通过实际的语境来判断。这也是汉语语言表达简洁性的一大表现。但是在英语中，“借出去”和“借进来”是两种完全不同的表达形式，今天我们就来学习一下borrow和lend这两个单词在英语中如何表示“借”。
一、从基本词义上来看borrow和lend的区别：
前面我们已经说了，borrow和lend两者都可表示“借”，但是 borrow 指“从别人那里借到，借来”，而 lend 则指“自己把东西借出去”，我们可以这样理解borrow和lend表示的动作是相反的，它们两者其实是一对反义词，而不是同义词。如：
• I lent my CD player to Dave and I haven’t got it back yet.
我把CD播放机借给戴夫，到现在还没有拿回来。（借出去）
• The hospital agreed to lend us a wheelchair.
• May I borrow your car?
我可以借用你的汽车吗?（借进来）
• Could I borrow your bike from you until next week?
我借用你的自行车，直到下周还你，好吗?（借进来）
二、从borrow和lend的用法上：
1.borrow sth from sb表示“向某人借某物”，一定要记住borrow用的介词是from。如：
• Did you borrow my pen from my desk?
你从我桌面拿走了我的钢笔，是吗?
• Morgan borrowed $5,000 from his father to form the company 20 years ago.
摩根20年前向他父亲借了$5000来建立这家公司。
2. lend sth to sb表示“把某物借给某人”，与borrow...form...不同，lend一般和介词to连用，如：
•A lot of banks are unwilling to lend money to new businesses.
许多银行都不愿意给新企业贷款。
•The commercial bank is willing to lend money to these customers.
这家商业银行愿意把钱贷给这些客户。
三、borrow和lend其他的语法区别：
borrow和lend的另一区别是其后是否可以接双宾语，lend 可接双宾语(即可用于 lend sb sth)，但 borrow 则不能接双宾语(即不能用于 borrow sb sth)。如：
Could you lend me some money? 你能否借给我一点钱？
He offered to lend me some books. 他主动提出借给我几本书。
比较：
正：She lent him some money. 她借给他一些钱。
正：She lent some money to him. 她借给他一些钱。
正：He borrowed some money from her. 他向她借了一些钱。
误：He borrowed her some money.
