go out [ɡoʊ aʊt]
1 外出交际;与…交往;与…谈恋爱（或有性关系）
在美国文化里，男女之间要多次约会，确定双方是合适的人之后，才会正式确定这段关系，而在这种暧昧期的约会就可以用go out，相当于低配版的date！
Will you go out with me?
你愿意不愿意和我约会？
You're going out with the guy!
你和这个家伙在约会。
They've only been going out for six weeks.
他们相恋才6周时间。
Hang out 的用法不限定于男女朋友之间，指的就是好朋友约一起打发时间， 如出外踏青, 或是在家一起看场球赛都可以叫 hang out。
如果你单纯想表达“明天要和某某出去玩”，特别是和异性朋友出去玩的时候，就要用hang out，才不会引起歧义！
2 外出娱乐
It will be a marvellous occasion and they should go out and enjoy it.
这是个好时机，他们应该出去痛快地玩一玩。
marvellous [ˈmɑːrvələs] adj 极好的,非凡的
go out 没有“滚出去”的意思，表达“滚出去”意思的是【get out】。
3 刻意; 故意
You do not go out to injure opponents...
你并非蓄意伤害对手。
4 （灯） 熄灭; （燃烧物） 熄灭
The bedroom light went out after a moment.
卧室里的灯过了一会儿就灭了。
The fire seemed to be going out.
火看起来快灭了。
5 （消息） 被宣布，被发表，被传播
Word went out that columns of military vehicles appearing on the streets
有消息说几队军用车辆出现在街头。
6（电视或广播节目） 播出
The series goes out at 10.30pm, Fridays, on Channel 4.
这部连续剧每周五晚上10点30分在第4频道播出。
7（潮水） 退去
The tide was going out.
正在退潮。
8 我十分同情他/ 她
My heart goes out to Amy and her fatherless children.
我十分同情埃米和她那些失去了父亲的孩子们。
