怎麼用英語形容兩個人完全不同，或者兩件事毫不相干呢？
你可以用distinct，意思是“明顯不同的，差別明顯的“。
強調的話，可以在前面加上quite/strikingly/sharply/entirely這些強調程度的副詞。
英語習語裡還有這幾種表達——
①be another/a different kettle of fish
kettle是“燒水壺”的意思，put the kettle on就是開始燒水。
而kettle of fish是用來煮魚的水壺，這就很格格不入了。
這個習語的意思是“截然不同；完全兩回事”。
例句
Having knowledge is one thing but being able to communicate it to others is another kettle of fish.
擁有知識是一回事，但能夠傳授給別人就完全是另一回事了。
Living in America is a different kettle of fish to living in China.
在美國的生活跟在中國完全不同。
②be a far cry from sth 和…相去甚遠，與…大相徑庭
2008年上映的恐怖電影《孤島驚魂》，英語名字就是Far Cry。
far cry可以形容遙遠的距離(或時間)，也形容大不相同的東西。
例句
This flat is a far cry from the house they had before.
這間公寓和他們以前住的房子相去甚遠。
A far cry from what you may have thought "sleeping through the night"meant!
也許這與你想像的"睡一整夜"的意思有很大的差距.
③chalk and cheese
chalk是粉筆，cheese是奶酪，這兩個從本質上就沒有任何相同之處。所以形容“截然不同；迥異”。
例句
Judging from appearance and personality, Bob and Ed are as different as chalk and cheese.
雖然他們是兄弟，他們的長相和性格都不同。
Attending a cookery class once a week and running your own house are as different as chalk and cheese, my girl, as you'll very soon find out.
每週去一次烹調班和管理你們自己的家根本不同，我的姑娘，這點你很快就會發現的。
④be worlds apart/poles apart
如果你說你和某人根本就是來自兩個不同的世界，那你想表達的就是你和他是完全不同的。
be worlds apart就形容“完全相反；截然不同”。
或者可以說poles apart，pole的意思是（地球的）極（點）。
這個習語有種南轅北轍的意思，也譯為“截然相反，大相徑庭”。
例句
On the surface, they look the same. But in reality, they are worldsapart.
表面看來它們都一樣，但實際卻有著天壤之別。
My sister and I are poles apart in personality.
我和妹妹在性格上截然相反。
