odd本身是“奇怪的，奇數”意思，加了s後odds就變成完全不同的詞義，指“可能性，幾率，勝算”，可指事情發生的可能性，也可指打賭時用數字表示的機會、可能性。

The odds are 5 to 1 that she will win.

His odds are very poor after he sprained his wrist.
