on the fly
on the fly在英语中有一个大家容易忽略又非常重要的意思：
匆忙地, 忙忙碌碌地, 在百忙中。
和本义在飞机上是有点联系的, 毕竟坐飞机的人都是匆忙地往世界各地飞来飞去, 正所谓来也匆匆去也匆匆。
I had to learn a lot on the fly.
意思就是"匆忙地"，"边做边学"，"马上"等。
英文解释就是：
quickly and informally, in a hurry, without thought or preparation. 非正式的, 没有准备的
例句:
- The project was completed on the fly.
- 这个项目是匆匆忙忙完成的。
- We grabbed some lunch on the fly.
- 我们随随便便对付了一顿午餐。
- Some of our DJs learned their skills on the fly.
- 我们有些主持人是边做边学的。
