第21課：過去進行時-知識精講
一、定義詳解：
1、表示過去某個時間點正在進行的動作。
It was raining at six o’clock in the morning .早上六點天在下雨。
2、表示過去某個時間段內正在進行的動作或者持續進行的動作。
We were reading the novels in the library during the March,三月份期間我們在閱讀各種小說。
We were watching TV from seven to nine last night. 昨天晚上七點到九點的時候我們在看電視。
二、過去進行時的句型結構
肯定句：主語+was/were+doing+其他 I was watching TV at nine last night.
否定句：主語+wasn’t/weren’t+doing+其他 I wasn’t doing my homework at eight last night.
疑問句：Was/were+主語+doing+其他？ Was it snowing last night? Yes,it was. No,it wasn’t.
三、常用的時間狀語
at this time yesterday, at that time或以when引導的謂語動詞是一般過去時的時間狀語等。
When while 引導的時間狀語從句
My pen dropped on the ground when I was walking in the park.
在公園散步的時候，我的鋼筆掉到地上了。
The students were reading while the teacher was correcting their homework.
四、過去進行時和一般過去時的區別
1、過去進行時強調動作在過去某時刻正在進行或持續，而一般過去時表示動作的完成。如：
He was writing his composition last night. 他昨晚在寫作文。(不一定寫完)
He wrote his composition last night. 他昨晚寫了一篇作文。(已經寫完)
2、表示過去的狀態、感覺及心理活動的靜態動詞(如be, like, love, hate, fear, own, hear, see, know,
want, notice)可用於一般過去時，但通常不用於進行時。如：
I hated it when a man spoke with his mouth full of food. 我討厭人們說話時口裡含著食物。
3、 一般過去時與always, constantly, forever, continually等連用，表示“過去經常性、習慣性的
動作“：而過去進行時與always, constantly, forever, continually等連用，表示動作的重複，
常帶有感情的色彩。如：
He always got up at six. 他過去總是六點起床。
He was always thinking of his work. 他總是一心想到工作。
4、有時過去進行時可以用來替換一般過去時，但一般過去時表示主語的行為是經過認真考慮的；而
過去進行時表示一種較隨便或沒有進行仔細考慮的行為。如：
I thought that he would agree with us. 我原以為它會同意我們的。
I was thinking of persuading him to follow my advice. 我想到了要說服他接受我們的建議

五、通常不能用於過去進行時的動詞
主要有：agree, be, believe, belong, care, forget, hate, have(擁有), hear, know, like, love,
mean, mind, notice, own, remember, seem, suppose, understand, want, wish等。例如：
誤：I was knowing the answer. 正：I knew the answer. 我知道答案。
誤：I wasn't understanding him 正：I didn't understand him. 我不明白他的意思。
六、when和while的區別
when，while，as都可以引導時間狀語從句，但用法區別非常大。
when引導的時間狀語從句中的動詞可以是終止性動詞，也可以是延續性動詞。
Why do you want a new job when you've got such a good one already？（get為短暫性動詞）
while和as引導的時間狀語從句中的動詞只能和延續性動詞連用。

如果從句和主句的動作同時發生，兩句都用過去進行時的時候，多用while引導
當主句、從句動作同時進行，從句動作的時間概念淡化，而主要表示主句動作發生的背景或條件時，只能用 as。這時，as常表示“隨著……”；“一邊……，一邊……”之意。 ① As the time went on，the weather got worse．（as表示“隨著……”之意） As years go by，China is getting stronger and richer．隨著時間一年一年過去，中國變得越來越富強了。he little girls sang as they went．小姑娘們一邊走，一邊唱
when從句的謂語動詞可以在主句謂語動作之前、之後或同時發生。
從句動作在主句動作前發生，只用 when。 ②When I got to the airport，the guests had left．（got to後發生）當我趕到飛機場時，客人們已經離開了
while 則強調主從句兩個動作同時發生，且從句動作為延續性動詞時，
當從句的謂語動作和主句謂語動作同時發生when，while，as都可使用
When ／While ／As we were dancing，a stranger came in
when和while 還可作並列連詞。when表示“在那時”；while表示“而，卻”，表對照關係。
如： a. The children were running to move the bag of rice when they heard the sound of a motor bike. 孩子們正要跑過去搬開那袋米，這時他們聽到了摩托車的聲音。 b. He is strong while his brother is weak. 他長得很結實，而他弟弟卻很瘦弱。
when用於表示“一……就……”的句型中（指過去的事情）
sb．had hardly（＝scarcely） done sth．when．．．＝Hardly ／ Scarcely had sb．done sth．when．．．（用倒裝）
①I had hardly ／scarcely closed my eyes when someone knocked at the door．＝Hardly ／ Scarcely had I closed my eyes when someone knocked at the door．我剛一閉上眼，就有人在敲門了。
