What makes your heart "skip a beat"?

什麼讓你的小心臟“停了一拍”？

可能是一些小細節：

• Being kissed with fervent, desperate passion.

• 被親吻，以熱烈，以絕望。

• Hearing the words “We need to talk.”

• 聽到這個：我們需要聊聊
  

• Seeing certain names pop up on my phone when I get a text.

• 手機上收到信息，看到某個名字出現的時候。

• Thinking that there’s one more step than there is on the stairs.

• 以為樓梯上還有一個臺階，結果沒有。

• Hearing the words “My office. Now.”

A view from my room's balcony

I used to watch her daily. Every day, she sat in front of her house and cleaned the road, in front of their house. One fine morning, she was doing the same work and I was watching her again.

我以前每天都能看到她。每天，坐在她家門口，清掃門前馬路。一個還不錯的早上，她又來清掃馬路，我又來看她。

Me(deep inside):— Yrrr kesi maa hai inki. Bilkul bhi dhyan nhi rakhti inka. ( What kinda mother she has. She doesn't even take care of her own children.)

我（內心）：印地語就不翻譯了，下同。（她有一位什麼樣的母親，甚至都不照顧好自己孩子）

Suddenly, a car came in full speed while she was busy with cleaning. The car driver applied sudden brakes. She was safe. I was furious by then and ran downstairs. I went straight away to her, held her hand and said,

突然地，她忙著低頭掃地，一輛汽車全速駛來。汽車司機突然剎車。她沒事。當時我很生氣然後跑下樓。我徑直走到她面前，拉著她的手然後說，

Me(A bit Angry):— Mummy Kaha hai tumhari? ( Where is your Mother?)

She(With a smile on her face):— “Mummy kya hoti hai bhaiya? (What is MOTHER, brother ?)”

我（有些生氣）：印地語（你媽媽呢？）

她（臉上掛著微笑）：印地語（什麼是媽媽，兄弟？）

I understood what that meant. I felt like, how can God be so unfair?

我明白這意味著什麼。突然覺得，上帝怎麼這麼不公平？

My heart skipped a beat. I was really shocked. I started feeling bad about my thoughts which came before meeting her.

我的心跳停了一拍。我真的很震驚。我開始對我遇到她之前的想法感到不快。

I didn't leave her hand, instead I held it more tightly. This time with a smile on my face, I took her to ice-cream parlour and we had two ice-creams. We became good friends. But you know what, very next day her father took her and left her at maternal uncle's house. It has been over 1 month since we last met.

我沒有放開她的手，而是緊緊握住。這次我微笑著，帶她去冰激凌店，然後買了兩個冰激凌。我們成為了好朋友。但是你知道嗎？第二天她爸爸帶她離開了舅舅家。

So what all I got after this was that don't judge a book by its cover, everything has a reason.

那麼我從這件事體會到，不要通過封面來判斷一本書（不要以貌取人），任何事情都有背後的理由。

She was completely unaware that she didn't have her mother.

她安全不知道這個事實，她沒有媽媽。

The little girl whispered, “Dad Do u know Today , while walking back from home to school , one uncle stared at me and when I looked at him , he smiled and tried to offer a chocolate ! But I avoid such things. You told me not to accept any offerings from strangers, right ? See you have got a good daughter !”

小女孩低聲耳語：“爸爸，你今天知道，在放學回家的路上，一個叔叔盯著我，當我看著他時，他笑了笑，想給我一塊巧克力！但我拒絕了。你告訴我不要接受陌生人的東西，對吧？瞧，你有一個好女兒！“

He asked,”Who ? That uncle with a long brown jacket ?”

他問：“誰？穿著棕色的長夾克的叔叔？“

The little girl whisperd ,”Yes , Yes , Yes ! Dad He only see he is still staring at us!”

小女孩低聲說：“是的，是的，是的！爸爸，他只看到他還在盯著我們！“

He said , “Next time if you see him, just greet him !”
他說：“下次如果你看到他，就和他打招呼”

The little girl stammered,”B-But W-Why?”

小女孩結結巴巴：“但…但是，為…為什麼？”

He smiled and said,”Your eyes they are not yours! He signed to donate his brain-dead daughter's eyes to you ! He was not staring at you. He was finding his daughter in your eyes !”

他笑著說：“你的眼睛不是你的！他簽了器官捐贈，把腦死亡女兒的眼睛給了你，他不是盯著你的眼睛，他說透過你的眼睛尋找她的女兒。”

這可能是個故事不過還是挺感人的，很多電影裡也出現，比如威廉·史密斯的《七磅》？
