Now, in a bid to improve its own business, the restaurant's owners have launched the so-called "Cameron Combo" – an 888-yuan (£89) chili-infused set-menu– featuring the exact same dishes that Mr Cameron consumed during his recent visit.

The "Cameron Combo" is far from the restaurant's only tribute. Its management has also renamed the private space where Mr Cameron and six guests ate as the "Cameron Room".

What's more, diners with a little extra cash – or an unusual fascination with the eating habits of British politicians – can fork out 1,000 yuan (£100) to hire the exact same waitress who delivered the spicy delicacies to the table of Mr Cameron's entourage.

("We have seen a clear increase in customers after Cameron's visit, at least 30 per cent.") ("Over the last few days, we have had quite a number of customers flying in from Shanghai [and] Beijing to find out about Cameron's room and chair.”)

@Jessica Bolin:

I LOVE hotpot.

I've had hotpot in a few provinces in China, and I've yet to have a disappointing experience when eating at a reputable restaurant. There's nothing better on a cold day than to get together with all of your friends and dip things in a bubbling pot of spicy soup.

@Rozmin Daya:

I love hot pot so much! I used to live in Switzerland and France, and there they have a dish called ‘Fondue Chinoise’ that I really liked. It’s very, very thinly sliced beef that you cook in broth or a mix of broth and wine.

Anyway, since I was familiar with that dish and I love it, when I heard about hot pot and realized how similar it is I knew I had to try it. Hot pot is even better than fondue because with hot pot there are so many really delicious things to add!

The first time I tried it I was totally hooked. I want to eat it like once a week now. But in a restaurant here it’s expensive. So for Christmas my husband bought me a pot for hot pot, so we can make it at home. We’re going to make it this weekend and it’s going to be awesome!

@Ken Woytisek:

Because it is so much fun, especially when sharing with friends. It is interactive in that you can choose whatever items are offered, in no particular order and swish them in a flavorful broth.

@John McHale:

Those who are adventurous eaters will enjoy the novelty and excitement of the hot pot dining experience, and it’s interesting to develop an appreciation for the many different varieties and regional styles of hot pot, as well as sample different ingredients and sauces.

@Jessica Schiller:

It's delicious! All the ones I have had so far tasted great, and all were different. There are so many choices and flavors, starting from the sauce down to every single ingredient you can put in.

One of the best parts for me is that everyone can choose what to take - if you only pick certain things from a soup bowl in Germany, you are being very rude. It is also very social and the cooking is all part of the fun.
