《A Tree is Nice》
Trees are very nice.They fill up the sky.
樹真好，高高的大樹遮住了天空。
They go beside the rivers and down the valleys.They live up on the hills.
樹長在河邊，樹長在山谷，樹長在高高的山頂上。
Trees make the woods.
They make everything beautiful.
很多很多樹在一起，就叫做大森林。
樹讓一切都變得那麼好。
Even if you have just one tree, it is nice too.
A tree is nice because it has leaves.
The leaves whisper in the breeze all summer long.
如果你有一棵樹，那也很好。
因為樹上有好多樹葉，那個夏天，都可以聽到風吹樹葉沙沙作響。
In the fall, the leaves come down and we play in them.We walk in the leaves and roll in the leaves.
We build playhouses out of the leaves.
Then we pile them up with our rakes and have a bonfire
秋天，樹葉紛紛落下，我們在落葉中玩耍。
一雙小腳蹚著落葉，連滾帶爬好不歡暢。
我們用落葉造房子，把落葉堆成山，點燃篝火。
A tree is nice because it has a trunk and limbs.
We can climb the tree and see over all the yards.
We can sit on a limb and think about things.
Or play pirate ship up in the tree.
樹真好，它長著粗壯的樹幹和枝條。
我們爬到樹上看各家的院子。
我們坐在樹杈上靜靜地思考。
我們還在樹上嬉笑玩耍、扮演海盜。
If it is an apple tree we can climb it to pick the apples.
如果它是蘋果樹，我們就爬上去摘蘋果。
Cats get away from dogs by going up the tree.
Birds build nests in trees and live there.
Sticks come off the trees too.
We draw in the sand with the sticks.
貓兒躥到樹上，躲開追它的狗。
鳥兒在樹上做巢，快樂地生活。
乾枯的樹枝從樹上跳下來，
讓我們拿來在沙灘上畫畫兒。
A tree is nice to hang a swing in.Or a basket of flowers.
It is a good place to lean your hoe while you rest.
樹真好。樹上可以盪鞦韆，或者，掛一籃鮮花。
當你休息的時候，鋤頭也靠著樹上歇會兒吧。
A tree is nice because it makes shade.
The cows lie down in the shade when it is hot.
樹真好。它可以遮住陽光，讓樹下有大片的陰涼。
奶牛臥在樹蔭下，躲開了夏天的熱浪。
People have picnics there too.And the baby takes his nap in his buggy in the shade.
人們在樹蔭下野餐乘涼，寶寶在車裡睡得香。
A tree is nice for a house to be near.
The tree shades the house and keeps it cool.
房子旁邊要有棵樹。樹讓屋裡舒服又涼爽。
The tree holds off the wind and keeps the wind from blowing the roof off the house sometimes.
這棵樹能擋住風，保護你家的房頂。
A tree is nice to plant.You dig the biggest hole you can and put the little tree in.
Then you pour in lots of water and then the dirt.
You hang the shovel back in the garage.
Every day for years and YEARS you watch the little tree grow.
You say to people,"I planted that tree."
自己動手來種棵樹吧。
挖一個大坑，栽一棵小樹，澆上好多水，再輕輕填上土。
最後，別忘了把鐵鍬掛回車庫。
一天又一天，一年又一年，眼看著小樹越長越高。
你驕傲地告訴每一個人，“那是我種的樹。”
They wish they had one so they go home and plant a tree too.
人人都想有棵樹。
他們回到家中，每人種下一棵樹。
