最近聽英語節目聽到一句話The Porsche has been collecting dust since the man was broke。

你可不要把“collecting dust”理解成“這個保時捷在收集灰塵”哦！那也太土豪了吧！用保時捷當“垃圾車”？

其實人家垃圾車還看不起保時捷呢，那麼小個空間，哪夠我裝垃圾。哼，傲嬌臉！那到底啥意思呢？

1）“collecting dust”咋理解？

Collect是收集，dust表示灰塵，collecting dust意思就是東西放久了，灰塵自然就積多了，指積灰。

比如說下面的英語例句：

① I found all his old books collecting dust in the basement.

我發現他所有的舊書都在地下室積滿了灰塵。

② I bought an expensive badminton racquet last month but I never used it. It's just collecting dust in the corner of my room.

我上個月買了一個很貴的羽毛球拍，但我從來沒用過。它只是在我房間角落裡積灰。

2）“Change a bed”可不是“換一個床”！

為了讓你的床不積灰，你需要時不時“change a bed”，這是個固定搭配，英文解釋：

To remove dirty sheets from a bed and replace them with clean ones.

把床上的髒床單（sheets）拿掉，換上乾淨的。

也就是換床單的意思，除了change a bed，也可以說change the bed，change the sheets或change bed sheets。

因此，有人叫你“change a bed”可不是讓你“換一個床”！而是叫你換床單啦！

英語例句：

① - How often do you change a bed?

- Oh? We need to change bed sheets? Why?

- 你多久換一次床單？

- 哦？我們需要換床單嗎？為嘛?
